Miami Dolphins Quarterbacks - Who Will Start the Final Game?

It's been a sore subject for Dolphin fans since their last Super Bowl appearance in 1985 -- do they have what it takes to make it to the Super Bowl this year?  Just as much attention, though, is being given to the three Miami Dolphins' quarterbacks, and bets are being placed as to which one of three will end the season as the starting QB -- Chad Pennington, Chad Henne or Pat White?.  Let's examine the three:

Chad Pennington:

It is true that he has been injured for much of his career -- he has missed over 30% of his games and has failed to have back-to-back injury-free years over his 9-year NFL career.  However, after coming off Comeback Player of the Year honors, he has refused to rest on his laurels.

He has entered training camp after undergoing an extensive off-season strength conditioning program, which as resulted in reduced body fat and increased arm strength.  For this reason, I expect Pennington to stay healthy the entire season and to start that much talked about last game of the season.

Chad Henne

Henne is the younger one of the two Chads and the possessor of the stronger arm.  The Dolphins spent a second round pick on Henne with the intention of him emerging as the #1 quarterback within a year or two.

A true drop passer, he would appear to be the heir apparent to Pennington as the next #1 quarterback.  Although it is likely, barring an injury to Pennington or a poor season from the Dolphins, that he won't get that chance until the start of next season at the earliest.

Pat White

White is the wild card, or shall we say, "Wildcat", here.  He is the quarterback most suited for the Dolphins Wildcat offensive formation, which was so successful last year, because of his equal ability to both throw and run.  He doesn't appear, at this point, to be a #1, as the Wildcat is not truly a full-time offensive formation.

But then again, if the "hurry up" instituted by the Buffalo Bills back in 1990 became a fixture for them, then it's not out of the question that the Wildcat could be the same for the Fins.  Look for White to be involved for only a handful of plays each game and third in line for being the starter the last game of the season.
