Tips on Ordering Basketball Uniforms For AAU Leagues and Tournaments

AAU is one of the most prestigious athletic organizations you can participate in. High school coaches and college scouts alike recognize the talent that comes from the Amateur Athletic Union and its members. Joining a team or forming your own AAU team to participate in competitive leagues and tournaments is easy. There are some requirements which you should follow when ordering uniforms though. The next few paragraphs provide a basic outline on what to follow when designing and purchasing basketball uniforms:

Home and Away Sets:
This is where the initial cost first comes in. The AAU requires that teams have a "home" and "away" jersey to participate in league play. This is quite surprising, considering the high school I played for only had 1 uniform for both. There are ways around this to make better use of the team budget when being required to have two separate uniforms:

1. Order reversibles! As long as one side is light, and the other is dark, a reversible will suffice in most AAU district leagues. Typically, the reversibles can get a little heavy, although a reputable uniform company will have means to manufacture a lighter uniform to solve this issue. You can also choose to sublimate or screenprint the jerseys instead of tackle-twill to take some of the weight off.

2. Order a reversible jersey with standard short. Some uniform companies offer the option of purchasing a reversible jersey with a single sided standard short to match the jersey design. This is a cost cutter versus ordering a full reversible because typically the single-sided shorts are much less expensive than having a reversible.

3. Order two jerseys and one short to match both. If weight becomes an issue, or the age group participating is under the 9/10 range, you can always order two separate jerseys and a short to match. You can get a short color that matches the color scheme both jerseys, or get a reversible short to go with either. The guarantees the jerseys won't be AS heavy as the reversibles and may even be a relief on team mom's not having to wash the same uniform over and over again!

Customization
Customization is a crucial part of the AAU uniform. Unlike middle and high school play, most AAU districts allow the team to have unlimited customization on the uniform. The kids feel great, look professional, and most of the time this translates to them playing a little bit better! Basketball is the most "flashy" of all sports uniforms, so get creative with piping, accents, sublimation, and logos. A reputable uniform company should be able to provide you a unique design from scratch, and allow you to add just about any thing you want to the uniform.

Numbering:
Numbering can generally be either tackle-twill, screen-print, or sublimation. But, once again, districts do vary, but most follow the following rules (quoted from the NJ AAU girls basketball website): "Each player shall be numbered on the front and back of the shirt with plain Arabic numerals.

The following numbers are legal: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 00, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, 55. (But double zero and zero cannot both be used for the same team) The number shall be at least 6 inches high on the back and at least 4 inches high on the front and not less than 3/4-inch width."

I hope this helps all you AAU coaches and interested participants out there!

There are a number of online resources where you can order reversible basketball jerseys or a great-looking youth basketball uniform. A great, reputable uniform company out there that conforms to all AAU standards is http://www.edgeteamsports.com.

The Trademark Up Myth

Today's hitters are plagued with the problem of wood bat breakage. Nowhere is this more apparent than the recent maple bat dilemma in the Major Leagues. Dangerous fragmentation of maple bats that has resulted in serious injuries has brought to light the hazards created when no attention is given to proper instruction of hitters regarding edge-grain orientation at the point of contact. Most wood bat breakage issues can be resolved by properly orienting the logo (or trademark) so as to place the edge grain parallel to the flight of the baseball at the point of contact. This is the position that yields the lowest breakage and the highest hitting power.

The traditional saying "logo face up", has its origins in the early years of baseball when hitters used a different style of hitting. Hitters like Gehrig, Dimaggio, and others swung the bat more linear and transferred more weight to the front foot. This forward momentum kept their upper body level and thus the bat barrel did not rotate. Today's hitters use a rotational method of swinging a bat. More weight is placed on the back leg with the hitter rotating the torso. This causes the shoulders to dip toward the ball and creates rotation of the bat barrel. The result is today's hitters tend to hit with the flat grain of the bat more often and this results in breakage and loss of power.

To cut down on breakage, hold the bat in front of you with the logo up (or facing you). Then rotate the logo towards your lead shoulder (shoulder closest to the pitcher). The more you hit off your back foot, the more you should rotate the bat toward the lead shoulder. The maximum angle should be 45 degrees. You may want to place a mark on the bat once you get the ideal alignment. This should put your bat in the proper hitting position with the edge grain aligned perfectly to hit the ball. This proper alignment not only will decrease breakage dramatically, but will also increase hitting power due to the restriction of the flexion of the bat.

Other things you can do to reduce breakage include:

• Use a heavier bat. A -3 metal swinger does not equate to a -3 wood swinger. The metal bat has higher strength than wood at low weights. -3 wood bats break more often than -2 wood bats. Remember, there is no such thing as -3 trees. To get lower weights you have to sacrifice density and that decreases strength. Ideally, you should hit with a wood bat weighing the same as the length. A 33" bat should weight 33oz. The difference between an even weight bat and a -3 is less than a hamburger patty so man up and move up in weight for better performance.

• You can also increase the handle diameter. Most wood bat companies offer handles below 1" in diameter which means the bat will break very easily. Old school handles were often greater than 1" which made the bats slightly heavier but reduced breakage. Also, a larger diameter handle means less flexion and that equates to greater power.

Lastly, pitchers with good fastball movement can saw you off on the inside and there is not much you can do about it. But, a majority of bats that break did so when hitting the outside pitch and in particular, off-speed. The ball doesn't need to be thrown hard to break a bat. Hitting off the last 2" of the barrel causes the bat to flex backwards excessively and will fracture the bat at a point close to the hands and the break will be formed at the leading edge of the bat. This is opposite that of a bat broken by an inside fastball that breaks on the trailing edge. An inside fastball hits the handle and stops the momentum of the handle. The barrel, having more mass, continues forward and causes a U-shaped bowing of the bat forward. This causes the bat to break at the hands on the trailing edge.

The key to hitting the outside pitch is to hit it off the back of the plate. This will allow the barrel to hit the ball solid and drive the ball hard to the opposite field. Not timing the outside pitch properly causes poorly hit balls off the end of the bat, weak squiblers, broken bats, shame, ridicule, losing, you get the picture. Practice hitting for power to the opposite field. It can only be done by hitting off the back of the plate. You should never begin hitting practice with inside pitches you can pull. Always have the BP thrower start you with outside pitches and work the pitches inward.

Recently, the MLB passed a series of wood bat guidelines. In these guidelines was the requirement to place logos on the "face of the grain" instead of edgegrain. This would decrease breakage and by their own admission, decrease performance. Oddly enough, this method works for breakage because now instead of the players rotating the face side of the grain toward the baseball, they now rotate the edgegrain toward it. Unless of course, the hitters know the facegrain orientation causes decreased performance and do not put the logo side up but place the logo facing the pitcher or catcher. We have observed this to be the case.

The corrective technique mentioned in this article could have accomplished the same result without the widespread chaos and large amount of expenses incurred by bat companies to comply with the MLB rulings.

Remember, good technique and focus reduces bat breakage and increases performance.

Nebraska Football Helmet - A History

Since the 1960's, Nebraska has kept a very consistent football helmet design. They have always had a very conservative design; they have never had a flashy or unusual design, even for a special occasion like a Bowl Game. In 1960, Nebraska had a red helmet with a white stripe and the player's number on the side (e.g. 22). In 1961, apparently the powers that be felt that even that design was too colorful and action-packed and instead opted for a white helmet with black numbers on the side. This Nebraska football helmet design is about as plain as you can get for a football helmet. In 1966, the numbers changed to red and a red vertical stripe appeared on the helmet for the first time. The white background and red stripe have never left the helmet since then.

The red numbers lasted just one regular season before they were dropped altogether. Rather than have the player's number on the side of the helmet, the letters "NU", made their way to the helmet for the Sugar Bowl game in 1967 and remained for 2 full seasons. During the third season with this helmet design (1969), a "100" decal appeared on the front of the football helmet. It was football-shaped in blue with white numbers outlined in red. The "100" marked the 100 year anniversary of the chartering of University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

From 1970 to 1981, the Cornhuskers kept the exact same design. The helmet had a white background, a red vertical stripe, and the letter "N" replaced "NU". This football helmet looks very much like today's design with one exception. In 1982, the team switched from the basic gray facemask to the red facemask. For almost 30 years, that same exact design has remained. The "N" is about as plain as you can get. It has no serifs and looks like your basic Arial font uppercase "N" that you could type on any word processing program. It probably fits well into the image of the program as a hard-working, Midwestern school, where they like to run the ball up the middle. In many ways it is the antithesis of some of the flashier designs out there at schools like Oregon, Maryland, and Boise State. There is not even a catchy logo like the Texas Longhorn or the Florida State spear. Looking at this football helmet, you can start to see why the cold weather, Rust Belt schools of the Big Ten were quick to admit the Cornhuskers for full conference membership in 2010.

Football Field Stencils - The Easy Way to Mark

Football field stencils are used to create standard markings on the grassy football meadow. A sport field is not a sport field if it doesn't have any marks on it. It could be just an ordinary lawn or grass field ideal for golf course because of its vast open space. In order to maintain its various marks, football field stencils are utilized along with superior athletic field markers and dependable turf machines for long lasting markings. There are many different types of football field stencils: numbering stencil kits, helmet stencil kits, school mascot stencils and school logo stencils. Football field stencils in general includes not just stencil kits but stencil dash mark kits, turf machines and athletic field markers. Some of these football field stencils durability depends upon the materials of the stencils used.

Some football field stencils are numbering stencil kit offered at varying sizes from 3'x2', 6'x42' to 6'x4'. It includes 8 Roman Style stencils of G, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and a triangular arrow that are needed to mark the numbers on a football meadow. It is made of polyethylene plastic either of Maxilast or Durolast brand depending on the client's order. Maxilast thickness is 1/8" or.125 mil while Durolast is 1/16" or 0.060 mil. Maxilast material properties are heavy duty and durable compared to Durolast, though the latter is cheaper and economical to use. It is recommended to use designated athletic field marking paint and not just any paint which is toxic and environmentally harmful. Turf machine is used to apply the paint.

Football field stencils also include helmet stencil kit in 15'6"x19'6", 15'6"x14', 20'x25' and 20'x18' sizes. The kit has 9 stencils inclusive of all the stencils needed to form a football helmet and mark it on the field. There is an area where you place a logo at the inner portion of the helmet. The composition of the stencils are also either Maxilast or Durolast polyethylene plastic which also presents the same specification just like the numbering stencil kits including the application recommendations of field marking paint and turf machine.

A game is not a game without a mascot. Football meadow stencils include school mascot stencils of 8' and 16' square sizes and school logo stencils of 20' and 30' square sizes. The same stencil materials and application recommendations are beings used on these stencils to encourage team spirits on athletic fields or facilities. The football field stencils dash mark kit includes two 5 yard pieces that mark 4 dashes and 1 inbound line. It has a stencil size of 20' tall and 25' wide. It is also made from polyethylene plastic and it is also available in Durolast or Maxilast brand. This stencil kit will let you smudge trails of dashes and inbound lines on the football meadow.

The Turf Machine is a marvel of ingenuity that is specifically invented for line stripping of athletic fields. The athletic field marker is a spray canister that can be used together with the Turf Machine. Each can contains 20 oz. of paint field markers that can make 3-6" wide stripes, ready for use in 30 minutes, with sharp well defined lines, good hide with one application only that even with one can, it could stripe 300 feet. Football field stencils markers are not harmful on the grass and it could stay longer than any other ordinary brand. This is the easy way to mark football meadows by using football field stencils and its accessories.

Come Support Your Team!

It is easy to see draw parallels between modern football jerseys and army uniforms of the past; both feature bright hues trimmed with all manner of braid, badges, medals etc. and are worn by groups of men proudly displaying their colors before the opponent.

It's all about belonging to a tribe, displaying your battle colors, adopting the rich and wide variety of designs your favourite team has worn, whether it's a solid and traditional home shirt or an outrageous eyeball scorching away, showing who you follow and by default who you don't. It's all about belonging and showing your true colours.

The combination of multi panelled hi-tech fabric outfits has also enabled designers to create styles that are intended to subconsciously increase physical presence and to give an almost armour-like impression - perfect for battle on the pitch.

Today, football supporters choose to show their allegiance to their team by donning a replica jersey. In the 70s it was scarves and bobble hats.

The fact that the contemporary football battle dress also now contains the financial benefits of additional sponsorship is a problem solely for the kit designers - not the players, not the fans. To the players it is merely a part of their uniform, good or bad, and to the fans it is an expression of their loyalty and devotion. These extra logos are not something to be ashamed of as some older supporters claim. Often the brands become intrinsically linked with the club.

So come show your support as Euro2008 is about to begin! All the newest soccer jerseys at the most affordable prices on the web.

Held Sportbike Motorcycle Jackets Review

Held sportbike motorcycle jackets are the most important item of clothing for bike riding, after of course, the helmet, because protection of the head and brain is the first priority for riding any motorcycle. However, for any mishap, the upper body will absorb the most impact and a jacket that offers both comfort and protection is a vital necessity. Not only do they look cool, they serve the very important purpose of shielding the upper body from the pavement. It is also very wise to choose a two toned or bright colored jacket over basic black, for better visibility to other drivers sharing the road.

While leather jackets are the familiar association with motorcycle riders, the many great features offered in the textile construction can offer much greater versatility for all types of weather conditions. Held sportbike motorcycle jackets are available in many choices, including leather and textile styles. Many dedicated riders will have two or more jackets at their disposal for different weather conditions or location environments. Of course, leather is a great wind shield and always looks great, but leather may not be suitable for some climates. Some of the many features available that will make the chosen jacket perfect for multiple climate conditions are the choice of a textile jacket with an air guard feature for wind resistance, an inner mesh lining for cooling and a detachable inner lining for warmth. The convenience of multiple inner and outer pockets is always a plus and adjustment features for arms and hips are another plus. Of course, safety is always a first priority and the best jacket should offer padding or protection at the shoulder, back and elbow. Reflector inserts for better visibility are also a great idea.

Olympia Motorcycle Jackets - Something For Every Rider

Olympia motorcycle jackets are known for their innovative designs. Not only does Olympia Motorsports able to think outside the box, but they generally produce high-quality products that do what they say they will and last for quite a while. Olympia jackets include a wide variety of products, from men and women's jackets, to all season jackets and riding suits. While fit may or may not be an issue, in general customers who purchase their products are very satisfied.

Many motorcycle riders know how hard it is to find a jacket for every season. Even though many companies claim that their jackets provide warmth in the winter and ventilation in the summer, as well as protection from the elements, it seems that finding it all in one package is not easy. Olympia has tried to change that with their AST, or "all-season touring" jacket, which is part of their "System touring collection."

This jacket features ventilation for warm weather as well as a zip-out insulated liner that can be added in the cold winter months. The liner can also be worn by itself and is both waterproof and breathable. The outer shell features storm flaps to protect riders from wind and water. Reflective patches on the neck, back, and chest mean that cars will be able to spot riders from far away. Reviewers have noted that this jacket works just as well as it is supposed to, letting them ride in any type of weather. However, the fit may be an issue for some people, as the collar has been known to gape, which lets wind run through the jacket.

Olympia motorcycle jackets include another designed to let riders brave the weather year-round and that is the Airglide 2. This jacket is made out of DuPont Cordura, and is designed to protect riders no matter what happens. It comes with a waterproof, insulated liner jacket, Scotchlite reflective piping, a Thermolite insulated liner jacket, Motion Flex armor at elbows, shoulders, back (removable), and cool mesh airflow lining for ventilation. The Airglide 2 is available in black/pewter, a very bright neon yellow for extra visibility, and a variety of other bright colors. While this jacket seems to work very well, customers should note that it is heavier than it appears.

While motorcycle enthusiasts want nothing more than to get out on the road any time of year, getting an all-weather motorcycle jacket can be an expensive proposition. Those who are interested in Olympia motorcycle jackets should make sure to do their research and, if possible, try the jacket on in the store to make sure it fits properly before buying.

Custom Athletic Uniform

An athletic uniform is to an athlete what a logo or a trademark is to a business. It not only gives him his unique identity but also makes him feel confident, comfortable and smart. Athletic uniforms are so designed that they enhance the performance of the athletes. A custom athletic uniform is tailored according to the nature of the game and season also.

The uniform bears the name and sports number of the athlete wearing it. Athletic uniforms come in several shapes, sizes styles, colors and designs. There are shorts, jerseys, tee shirts, skirts, long sleeve tee shirts, fleece, workout wear and so on. However each uniform is custom made according to the measurements of each athlete and his taste, budget and fashion. An out-of-fashion and ill-fitting uniform, whether too loose or tight, small or large can make the athlete look ludicrous and adversely affect his performance.

Fabric-lightweight and comfortable

The fabric of the uniform should be made of lightweight, breathable and comfortable material. It should not be heavy and weigh down the athlete. It should not cause any adverse skin problems or allergies.

Not only the fabric, but the lettering, numbering and graphics on the uniform should also be made of light material and should not wear out quickly by cracking or peeling. They should be dyed directly into the fabric. The fabric of the uniform should be made of strong material that can withstand the sudden stretches, swings and unexpected physical movements in course of games such as football, cricket, tennis etc. The seams on the uniforms are the particularly vulnerable areas, as they tend to tear and wear out soon.

The style and fashionable design of the custom athletic uniform enhances the personal effect of the athlete. It makes him look more sexy and attractive. Sometimes the uniform can be so designed that the athlete looks awesome, formidable and indomitable to the competitor. It creates a deep psychological impact, a kind of fear psychosis on the opponents.

This, however, is not to suggest that the athletes win or lose on the basis of the uniforms that they wear. But we can see how we feel overawed by the persons who wear immaculately styled uniforms. The uniforms of various professionals such as air hostesses, diplomats, high flying sales executives and key defense and police personnel etc can be cited as examples.

You can buy the best uniforms from Victory. Since 1988, Victory Custom Athletic, Inc. has specialized in custom baseball uniforms and softball uniforms through our Los Angeles based factory direct manufacturing operation. Our lifetime construction warranty supports our claim to have the highest quality baseball jerseys and baseball pants, softball jerseys and softball pants, and basketball uniforms within the entire athletic uniform industry. Show Team Support Through Youth NFL Jerseys

The National Football League or NFL has been very famous all over the world in the 21st century. However, we remain clueless that it struggled during its first decade of operation with teams coming in and dropping out with discouraging regularity. Just like other sports associations like NBA and FIFA, the NFL never gained popularity on its first day. It started in the 1920s and Joe F. Carr was commissioned as the league's president. The NFL started to gain popularity when Red Grange signed with the Chicago Bears, which is one of the league's most powerful team back then. Grange was the most phenomenal among the halfbacks of his time and when he had his debut against the Chicago Cardinals at Wrigley Field in Chicago, 36,000 fans went to see his game. This number doubled when they fought against the New York Giants at Polo Grounds in New York. This kind of crowd was unheard, before this. Red Grange retired in 1935 and became one of the all time greats of the NFL.

The NFL has been a part of every American's life nowadays. No NFL fan can live without their own NFL apparel. Every popular NFL team has its own line of youth NFL jerseys. Whether it is summer or the popular winter outfit, youth NFL jerseys has its own variations and styles. For every NFL fanatic, it is imperative to make sure that his/her inventory is always on track. Although authentic NFL jerseys are out in the market, replica jerseys are still part of the fashion. Even though it is cheaper than the authentic ones, it is very stylish that you can wear them to any informal occasions. Tank tops for girls can be very sexy, and tots can join in the fun with their popular team's youth NFL jerseys.

You can buy these apparels on your nearest sports house, NFL establishments and certain shopping centers. However, the most convenient way to get your hands on to your popular team's youth NFL jerseys is to go to your computer and shop online. Things You May Need For Your Child's Summer Football Camp

Summer is drawing closer and that means summer camps for your kids. If you are planning on putting your child in a football camp, there are a few things that you might want to make sure your child has before it starts.

Special athletic clothing such as Under Armor is useful for your little athlete. Under Armor makes shirts and pants that are specially designed for athletic activities. They are stretchy and allow for free movement while also keeping the person as dry as possible.

Football cleats are shoes specially designed for playing football in. Cleats have either metal or hard plastic spokes that come out of the sole of the shoe to help with gripping on the grass when in the field. Cleats also come in a variety of styles with some made with high ankle support and others with special lacing for maximum coverage.

Football helmets can be purchased in many different sizes and styles. Sizing can be somewhat tricky so be sure to check with a sports store employee and have your child try on a couple of sizes before choosing just one. Mouth guards, which are hard plastic pieces placed in the child's mouth for protection, can be attached to the front of football helmets. Mouth guards that attach to the helmets tend to make keeping track of it much easier.

Other football accessories such as wrist guards, knee braces and special socks are also available at sportsman stores all over. Communicate with your child's coach to find out what sorts of accessories you are responsible for buying and which ones will be available through the program.

Park's Sportsman sells football helmets for all ages. Billings Farnsworth is a freelance writer.

New York Jets 2008 NFL Team - What to Watch Out For Live Online and Their Schedule

Will the loyal fans still watch live or online the New York Jets 2008 NFL Team even though they played it bad last 2007? The 2007 season was one of New York Jets' worst seasons because they had a win loss record of 4-12. The New York Jets will not change their coach because they are still satisfied with Eric Mangini, who was the youngest NFL coach. This young coach at 35 was the offensive assistant coach of Baltimore Ravens, and then moved with the Jets for a defense coaching post as well. Then he went to New England Patriots for defense and in 2006 became the New York Jets coach.

There are issues coming up in terms of salary cap that in turn might affect the team's performance. This is regarding their high profile acquisitions like that of: Alan Faneca, with a $ 40 million five year contract; Calvin Pace with a $42 million deal for six years contract. Damien Woody for five years with a $25.5 million contract; and also with other players such as Jesse Chatman, Bubba Franks, Andre Woolfolk, and Tony Richardson.

On the other hand, if you will watch online live the New York Jets 2008 NFL Team the fans will no longer see some high profile players because they were selected by other teams: Erik Coleman, who now joined Atlanta Falcons, Sean Ryan, now one with Miami Dolphins, Justin McCareins now part of the Tennessee Titans; and Anthony Clement, offensive player and Andre Dyson, cornerback.

Antonio Gates - 2003 Draft Day Picks

Antonio Gates was born June 18, 1980 in Detroit Michigan. Ever since Gates was a young child it was obvious that he was going to be a great athlete in one sport or another. Standing at 6 foot 4 inches and weighing 260 pounds, he has all of the physical skills that a top notch NFL tight end could need. When you add this to the mental aspect of his game, it is no wonder why many people consider him to be the best tight end in the game.

Gates is a bit different than the rest of the players that you see in the NFL. Before his rookie season in the league, he had not played in an organized football game since high school. Gates decided that he wanted to go to Michigan State University to play both basketball and football, but when he was told by then Coach Nick Saban that he could only play football he decided to transfer. Subsequently, this led him to Eastern Michigan University then two junior colleges until he finally settled down at Kent State University in Ohio.

After his college basketball career was over, NBA scouts felt that at 6'4" he was not big enough to make it in the league. In turn, he began to focus his energy on getting ready for the NFL. Nearly 20 teams attended his workout, and the San Diego Chargers were so impressed that they signed him to a contract.

After a slow rookie season in 2004, Gates quickly became an offensive threat. Throughout the next three seasons combined he caught 241 passes for 2,989 yards and 32 touchdowns. This was good enough to land him in the Pro Bowl each of these three years, and also establish himself as a top offensive threat. For a guy that did not play college football, Gates is doing just fine in the NFL.

Diversity of the Football Shirt Market

The football shirt market has exploded over the past few months as the world prepares for the FIFA World Cup football tournament this summer. Fans are snapping up new designs as quickly as the teams can release them, and there is a booming online industry devoted to tracking down the newest designs and providing sneak peeks for fans who can't wait for the official release. The availability and relatively inexpensive nature of replica football shirts makes them highly popular among the hard core fans - and those fans who only seem to watch during the important games.

World Cup 2010
One of the biggest forces driving the football shirt market right now is the upcoming World Cup tournament. The teams that have qualified for this premiere football event are all sporting new uniform shirts, and fans are anxious to represent their teams by purchasing the new World Cup designs. From kids to grandparents, the World Cup brings out the football fan in everyone, and has an added element of national pride as the football team represents the entire country. Wearing your team's World Cup shirt shows that you're a fan and a patriot.

European Teams
Even in non-World Cup years, the football shirt market remains relatively brisk. Football fans in Europe have several teams to choose from, and their loyalties to their favorite teams are legendary. Whether you are from Manchester or Barcelona, you'll want to show off your team pride with a team jersey. From France to Italy to Germany, there are several team designs to choose from, and each carries its own particular reputation. Teams have a specific character, and the fans of those teams represent the character of their favorite clubs when they wear their shirts.

International Teams
Of course, Europe is not the only part of the world where the football shirt market thrives. Football is one of the most popular sports in the world, and the sales of football shirts is representative of that popularity. There are football shirts available from teams in Japan, South Africa, and Cameroon to name just a few. Even the United States has its own national football team and sells replica shirts to the fans, though the fans of football in the United States are traditionally less passionate about the game than other countries around the world.

Sponsorships Cash In
One of the main reasons that football teams like to be part of the football shirt market is because it allows them to make more money from sponsorships. Each team shirt proudly displays the logo of the company that manufactured it, which means that the fans walking around in the team's shirts are walking billboards for the shirt company. Advertising on sporting apparel has become normal and expected, and it provides a little extra revenue for the team as well as some extra exposure for the team's sponsor. With the widely televised nature of today's sports, commercialization of sporting events has spread across every professional sport, and football is no different.

Can Stats Tell Us How to Pick Winners of NFL Games?

For as long as gambling has been around people have tried to predict all sorts of outcomes, and not just for sporting events. How to pick winners of NFL games has become like astrology. Ok, people don't use tea leaves, coffee grounds or crystal balls but how long until someone claims their cat or dog knows how to pick winners of NFL games?

All things being equal the best team would win 100% of the time, or if teams were fairly equal the home team would have the advantage.

Sports aren't like that.

You cannot legislate for desire, for injuries and for poor play. For me sports is 95% information and stats and 5% the unknown, a botched snap, an error or a missed dunk or a defensive error, things you cannot possibly legislate for.

Or can you?

Picking winners of NFL games is hard but it can be done. Over the years people have compiled all sorts of stats on players, teams and coaches. Knowing how to pick winners of NFL games is still a bit of a lottery but with computers storing information on each team and their win-lost records in snow, rain, night games, day games, domes, on grass and turf we have more information on which to base a gambling decision. We can predict outcomes with more confidence. That doesn't mean the odd one won't slip through, look at the Arizona Cardinals, did anyone give them a chance to get to the Superbowl?

So should you just go with your gut feeling rather than stats and pundits?

The truth is in gambling there is always a measure of the unknown involved, yet I have heard about a system that takes stats and variables and can get the majority of picks right.

When the season starts again I shall use it and find out if this is true. For the time being I'll use the system for NBA and MLB.

Time will tell if this is a true breakthrough in sports betting. The trouble with breakthroughs though is once they happen and everybody knows about them the game is up and no-one wins. The system only works at 63% so until it reaches over 75% in my eyes the question of how to pick winners of NFL games remains a mystery.

I am J Robinson a seasoned marketer of 10 years who has been marketing online for 2 of those. I am also an investor in stocks and shares.

Middle School Training, Fun, Practice, Safety, and Coaching

Points on tackling safely and effectively

It has been stated many times that a defensive teams win games, and the most fundamental part of a defensive team is performing a great tackle. Tackling can be fun and exhilarating, but done improperly and it can be dangerous. When you tackle your opponent remember three important steps:

First, you need to stop the opponent quickly so make sure to place yourself directly in front of the opponent's path. You can do this by placing your foot between your opponent's feet. Also, at this time thrust your arms backward to prepare for the next step.

Second, thrust your other foot again squarely in front of your opponent and with all the momentum that you have brought to the tackle grab your opponent. Now is the time that injuries can happen. The one golden rule in making a safe tackle is to never, ever lead with or try to tackle with the crown of your head. Tell yourself, or your players to imagine that they are biting the football.

The third and last step is to bring your hips up and drive the opponent backwards and towards the ground. Setting yourself up for this last step will ultimately prove the success in the tackle.

Making a great hand off

Learning the basics in a handoff is essential to a strong offense. The hand off can take place in many ways, but most if not all handoffs occur between the quarterback and the running back. The running back starts the hand off running towards the quarterback with his arms open creating a pocket for the quarterback to slide the football right into the running back's chest. Once the quarterback has placed the ball in the pocket, or opening, the running back immediately clamps down on the ball protecting it and holding on to it. Now that the running back has the ball when he leaves the quarterback he should remain low to the ground in order to react quickly on the field.

Some benefits to Weightlifting

Let's not forget weightlifting. It is one of the essential elements that will help you improve your game. The benefits of lifting weights are found in added strength, but more importantly it will increase your maximum power. Maximum power should be the goal of your training, because it involves muscle strength and muscle excursion during play. This exertion will help you as a football player to execute your skills on the field with speed and force. We highly recommend working with a personal trainer when weightlifting to insure that you are doing it properly, and to help you design a program that will fit your position.

The High Toss Football Catch

Because not all throws are perfect you will need to practice making catches that are high or low. As such you need to practice the high passes so that you know to react, here are some basics: Make a diamond with their forefingers and thumbs. Never catch or try to catch a ball with your body, especially a high ball. Important to look the catch through and tuck it away. When you practice a high catch you are going to perform it subconsciously on the field, so remember extend the arms, catch and follow through.

The Best Team in the NFL

Of course, recognizing a football team as the best in the league is purely based on opinion. Your bias definitely has a lot to do with where you come from. Born and raised in Green Bay, Wisconsin, I happen to be a full-blown, paint your face green and wear a cheese head, die hard, crazy Green Bay Packer fan. I have been watching the green and gold since diaper status. But just because I grew up cheering for this Midwest team doesn't mean that I'm a poser.

The Green Bay Packers are recognized by many as the greatest football team in the NFL. You will find fans no matter which state you are in, and that's an amazing thing. It's no wonder why these guys have such loyal fans, they are on a four game winning streak in this 2009 season, and they are making their way to the NFL playoffs with the number one defensive team and number sixth offensive line in the entire league. For all of you fans constantly searching for more facts to run your mouth with, read on for some very interesting, perhaps unknown facts about the greatest team in the NFL, the Green Bay Packers.

1. The "Green Bay Packers" just so happen to be the longest-standing team name in the history of the NFL.

2. Other team nicknames of the past are "Indian Packers" or "Indians" (1919), "Acme Packers" (1921), "Blues" (1922), "Big Bay Blues" (1920's), "Bays", (1918-1940), and currently "The Pack," and "The Green and Gold."

3. Every single Packer game has been sold out since all the way back in 1960.

4. The average waiting period to get your hands on Green Bay Packer tickets at Lambeau Field is approximately 35 years. (There are more people on the waiting list than seats in the stadium).

5. Subsequently, the Packers have one of the largest fan bases in the NFL, probably the largest but Steelers fans will argue.

6. Each year the Green Bay Packers play an intra-squad scrimmage at Lambeau Field called "Family Night."

7. The Packer foundation has put limitations on the use of similar logo looks as their "G" mark is trademarked though it's been altered several times since 1961.

8. The Packers have played their home games at the famous Lambeau Field since 1957 and it is the longest continuously used stadium in the league's history.

9. When Lambeau Field was built (after the City Stadium became too small), it became the first stadium that was built exclusively for an NFL team.

10. The Green Bay Packers remain one of the last "small town teams" and they are the only non-profit, community owned major league sports team in the US to this day.

It would be great if this amazing team came out with an official NFL, Packer car. Why not hey? It could be a BMW only not with the BMW Emblem but with the infamous "G." It may seem like a stretch but perhaps the team's superstars could sport around in them. Or maybe during the Macy's holiday parades or Green Bay's Packer party parade, who knows?! As the greatest team in the NFL, these guys can pull off plenty of wild stunts. I mean, the cheese head was supposed to offend us for heaven's safe. But what did we do? We embraced it!

The Throwback Jerseys of the Denver Broncos

Denver Broncos are not only famous for their wonderful on field playing but also for their throwback uniforms they wear. There are thousands of fans who love to wear their jerseys. The fan following for the team is really incredible. Their fans includes all age groups ranging from the sixties people to young kids. There are different kinds of jerseys and all of them have a good reception from their fans.

Fittingly the broncos also give a greater importance to their jerseys right from the beginning they started their career in 1960. Recently the throwback jersey was so popular between the broncos fans. The reason for this was the match among the Broncos and New England Patriots. They wore this throwback jerseys to celebrate their fiftieth season in the American Football League. The fans were really excited to see their stars wearing the vintage jersey and playing in front of their eyes.

The color of the throwback jersey is mustard yellow and brown and the helmet is of brown color. This is the jersey they wore in 1960. Before 2009 celebrations they wore this jersey on the thanksgiving match in 2001. On both occasions the reception of the uniform from the fans was pretty good. People started giving the throwback jerseys as gift for the wedding occasion and also for other family ceremonies.

Although there is an enormous and deep support for the throwback jersey at present, the fans of the 1960's did not love the jersey as they do now. They made some abusive comments and forced the team management to change the design of the jersey. The team held a bonfire to burn the striped socks and made the function as a celebration by introducing their new jersey which is more likely loved by the Denver people.

The replacement uniform for the Broncos was designed by Laura North-Allen. The replacement came in 1962 after two years of criticism. The newly designed uniform consisted of orange helmets, white pants and orange or white jerseys. In 1968 the Broncos introduced a new jersey which was famously know as "Orange Crush" received good response among the fans and they continued wearing this for a long period in many games they played.

However the fame of the throwback could not be beaten by any other uniforms. The old people who saw the 50th anniversary match was taken to their childhood days by the uniforms of the Broncos players. It is a pretty good experience to them. For the kids and the young men who were watching it was like a whole new experience and a rare occasion to witness. Overall the fans were in all sorts of excitement while seeing their team players wearing the vintage costume.

Now if you are ready to show your love for the Broncos, check out Denver Broncos throwback jerseys to add to your sports apparel collection.

Oakland Raiders - Raiders Commitment to Excellence

What does an Oakland's football team and the movie "Pirates of the Caribbean" have in common? Yes they are both well known around the world and are also multimillion investments, but that wouldn't be the initial thing in mind when these two come to mind. Maybe the black and silver dominant images of pirates with one eye patches, hats, and two swords at the back would be a more accurate description. Indeed this would be an image that would strike an upright reaction from anyone and would certainly leave the unprepared and weak in an inferior pose. After all, Pirates are Raiders. They will take what is yours and make it theirs. For some reason, this sort of image does work. Whether it is for movies or as for the Raiders they do get what is theirs. And what is it? Whether it is a movie awards in Hollywood or Super Bowl Victory, it would simply be spelled and called s-u-c-c-e-s-s.

We all know that the Raiders are based in California. But some may be confused as to why there is and was an Oakland Raiders and a Los Angeles Raiders team. Well, simply put, the team which was originally based in Oakland was then transferred to be based in Los Angeles for sometime, and then transferred back to Oakland. Yes, these were due to legal reasons, but then again, it did not have an effect. Football is simply football and winning is what every team would want. California, not only should take pride in the "Cali lifestyle" they have where spring and summer never got better, but of their football team as well. The Raiders have won multiple super bowls already and are one of the best in the league. No sports fanatic from any state or even country could ever say that the Raiders have no right to step on that field. After all, in the words of Al Davis, the team's head coach and general manager in the year 1963, the team should abide by the slogans, "Pride and Poise," "Commitment to Excellence," and "Just Win, Baby". These are registered trademarks meant not only for marketing reasons, but team motivation and direction. And it did work! They did get the recognition, the victories, and most of all, worldwide fans cheering for them! Indeed it was more than just victories and the trophies, it was the name they got that made their logo so familiar that hats and jerseys would be worn even outside the United States.

So what does their logo of a Raider have to do with anything about football? Well maybe you can just say that every victory is a steal. And as long as this team keeps on winning, then you can also say that it keeps on getting what they want and making it theirs. After all, life is too short to settle for anything else which is less. Go be a Raider. Know what you want, earn it, and make it yours!

Football Game Planning: Football Player Pre-Game Preparation

Every football player should have a pre-game routine. When a player consistently gets nervous in front of a crowd or gets psyched out after making a mistake, a solid pre-game routine might be the start of getting their head space right prior to the game.

Pre-game preparation should be a routine that the player chooses that helps them focus and calm themselves before a game. For some players, this could be listening to music or meditating. For some, it involves warm-up drills or mental visualization. For some just chilling out or just plain quiet time. Whatever it is, encourage your players to get into a pre-game routine that gets them prepared, focused, and confident and most importantly relaxed.

Mistakes are going to happen during any football game. The players that have a plan for getting back on track are more likely to bounce back and succeed. The players that don't will dwell on their mistake lose confidence and play poorly. It's important that as a football coach preparing your football team to compete that they know that mistakes will happen through-out the football game, that it just the nature of any sport. The point you want to make as a youth football coach is to limit their mistakes as much as possible. You want them to play aggressive, not passive, as if they are afraid to make a mistake. You want them to compete hard at a high level at all times and sometimes during the heat of battle, a mistake will be made. So be it! Personally, I'd want my team competing hard making a few mistakes than not competing and making no mistakes!

Finally, help players avoid the stress of competition by taking steps to eliminate the unknown. Explain what players should expect during every game. Talk about it leading into the game and how they should handle it. Nerves are a natural part of competition, but those players who learn to control those butterflies in the stomach are the ones who come out as winners. When players tell you that they are nervous, turn it around and tell them they're not nervous they're just excited about playing the game of football!

Cheers!
