It's All in the Hands - Football Gloves

Want to gain an advantage over your competition? If you're a wide receiver, defensive back, or running back, gloves can make a big difference in game play. These football gloves allow wide receivers and defensive backs the ability for the ball to "stick" to your hands. For the running back, it is two-fold. It allows the running back to be able to catch the ball easier when coming out of the backfield, as well as, keeping a tight grip on the football when running through the hole. Linemen gloves, which are padded, allow the lineman to be much more aggressive in the "trenches" without worrying about damaging their hands or fingers. Football gloves are made for all ages and sizes.

Let's talk more closely about how these gloves can benefit each player by position.

Skilled Positions: This includes wide receivers, defensive backs, and running backs. Being able to catch the ball AND keep control of the ball is very important in football. Last thing all players want to experience, as with coaches, is a turnover/fumble. The glove provides the player with extra grip and control. They should be like a second layer of skin. Football gloves should be an extension of the players themselves. They should play with them as if they are not even aware that they are wearing them. Look for the ones that offer the best fit and the best grip. The combination of the two (best fit and best grip), are the key in finding a great pair of gloves for the skilled positions. If taken cared of properly, gloves can last for an entire season. If the grip of the glove wears off (the "tackiness") there's a spray that you can purchase to re-condition the glove and it regain its "tackiness".

Power/Strength Positions: Linemen, or strength positions, rely on leverage and grip to move the opposing player. For the defensive linemen, it is their responsibility to get to the quarterback or running back. They have to be able to grab, twist, or move the offensive lineman out of the way and not have to worry about damaging their fingers or hands from hitting a face mask, helmet, or anything else that can cause harm. Offensive linemen seek the same kind of protection with using the linemen gloves. Of course, the objective of the offensive linemen is to stop the defensive linemen from penetrating the back field and causing a quarterback sack or running back tackle in the backfield. Offensive linemen are not allowed to grab their opponent, but there are many techniques that can be used to gain leverage against the defensive player. A glove that is padded will allow the player to play with confidence and not worry about damaging their fingers or hands.

Gloves for the skilled and strength positions can greatly increase they player's performance.
